AFFORDABLE YET ALLURING PLACES TO VISIT IN THE AMERICAS IN 2017 (PART 2)
We did mention Ecuador in the first part of this series and although Galapagos Islands is a part of Ecuador, we thought it still deserves special mention. 600 miles west of mainland Ecuador, the 15 isolated isles of Galapagos will lure you if you are looking for an unpredictable date with the wild and nature. Giant tortoises, blue-footed boobies and the famed Komodo dragons lurk in the tall grass seemingly oblivious of you and your camera.
Continue east to San Cristobal Island to rendezvous with sea lions and for pulsating action, head to Isabela Island to hike Sierra Negra’s daunting active volcano.
But remember that irrespective of where your Galapagos adventure takes you, you will remain a guest and an outsider, even more than 100 years after Darwin visited this place.
